By Grand Central Station We Sat Down and Wept

By Grand Central Station We Sat Down and Wept is inspired by Elizabeth Smart's novel of prose poetry By Grand Central Station I Sat Down and Wept.

Devised and edited by Kevin Cadwallender, this original anthology came about when he used Facebook to invite potential contributors to write a poem suggested by the lines from Smart's classic. I picked "carry a legend like a banner", and was delighted to be both included in the book and among those asked to read their poems at the launch event in Edinburgh.

By Grand Central Station We Sat Down and Wept features 57 writers from throughout the UK, including Sebastian Barker, Elizabeth Smart's son, who has
given this book his blessing. The
anthology is published by Red Squirrel
Press.
