Challenger: New Worlds, Lost Places

In 2009, I was involved in the Edinburgh, UNESCO City of Literature, Lost World Read. This led to me writing "Out of the Depths", a 16,000-word novelette featuring Sir Arthur Conan Doyle's character Professor Challenger, which I performed at the Writers' Bloc show "Doyle M for Murder".

I am delighted to announce that this story has been accepted by editors Jeff Campbell and Charles Prepolec for their anthology Challenger: New Worlds, Lost Places for Canadian publisher EDGE. What's more, the cover (preview above) by Oscar-winner Dave Elsey is based on my story!

"Out of the Depths" features Professor Challenger, of course, but also Nazis and dinosaurs, and Nazi dinosaurs...

To quote my version of Challenger in the story:

How strange we will seem, how peculiar our civilization and its values, to those who will come after us, whomsoever or whatsoever they may be...
